Chairman's Welcome To Graze - November
I begin this month on a sad note following the sad passing of Donald Fraser, our Northern Scotland board member.
Donald was a great friend and much respected member of the board at British Wool and will be greatly missed by all.
Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with his wife Mary, son Donald, and all the family.
As the nights draw in and many of you will already be preparing for winter the British Wool depots are still open and available to receive your wool. Wool intake has been very good this year with many members that we haven’t seen for a few years making that business choice to send their wool to British Wool. For those of you with wool still on farm I urge you to get in touch with your local depot and book your wool in. Remember haulage is free from your local collection site or nearest depot and even though we are seeing the effect of rising fuel costs, we continue to offer this to all our members.
As we head into November and Christmas is quickly approaching, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the British Wool shop on the website where all members get a 20% discount. What could be better than receiving a gift made of British wool on Christmas morning.
Within the latest issue of Graze, read about the latest event we held to support the next generation of sheep farmers with the NSA.
We also share a success from earlier in the year when British Wool were runners up in a prestigious Health and Safety Executives (HSE) annual Risk Reduction through Design Award.
There is also information on our consumer campaign “What on Earth are you wearing?” Making British wool part of the sustainable fashion conversation, highlighting the benefits of wool over petrochemical derived fabrics.
