A busy show season for all
Over the last three months we have been busy out and about attending many of the local and national shows. From Caithness in the very North of Scotland to the Royal Cornwall in the South, Omagh in Northern Ireland to Builth Wells for the Royal Welsh.
Shows are a vital part of agriculture and rural life, an opportunity to get away from the farm and meet up with old friends or even compete with livestock or farming skills.
British Wool are committed to supporting both national and local shows whenever we can. At some of the larger shows like the Great Yorkshire we had a stand promoting some of our work to farmers but also the wider public who had a real interest in the products made from British wool. At some of the smaller shows it may have been a member of our team, a board member or local representative on foot welcoming the opportunity to engage with members.
Up and down the country we have also been judging fleece and shearing competitions that many of our members take part in.
Shows are not just a great opportunity to get feedback from our members but also the opportunity to engage with industry representatives ensuring the British Wool message is heard. This included meeting government officials, DEFRA, AHDB the NFU and the Made with Wool Project in Wales.
At the Great Yorkshire Show, we were delighted to support the launch of the Wool and Wellness campaign with FCN. It’s a great opportunity to highlight and support better mental health in farming - more details are available on our website.
Shows are a vital platform for raising awareness of British Wool, increasing demand and looking at potential new opportunities - ensuring we can continue to work together in maximising wool values and supporting the UK wool sector.
