Shearing training designed to fit around you: Richard Schofield
At British Wool, we help hundreds of shearers enter the industry each year through our beginner training courses. This helps ensure that shearers have the foundations of good shearing knowledge and skills from the offset.
Beyond our beginner level courses, it is important for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the shearing industry. Taking two days out from a shearing run or from the farm may not be feasible for all shearers, which is why we offer the option to earn whilst you learn.
British Wool Gang Courses are bespoke courses for a team of around 4 shearers or a group of family and friends working on their own farm. A British Wool shearing instructor would be sent to an agreed location to work with the shearers on developing their skills whilst they work. The shearers should all have either a Bronze Seal or above or be shearing a minimum of 80-100 sheep per day.
Gang Courses can help shearers to update their knowledge and skills, whilst in their own working environment. This bespoke training will allow the instructor to review the skills of each shearer and provide training to enhance and develop their skills, all working towards Continuing Professional Development.
British Wool will hold a record of the progress each shearer has made and build up a CPD profile which can be useful to the shearers’ future job prospects.
