Meet the team: Aled Evans, Newtown Producer Services Manager
Whilst our network of 8 UK grading depots are busy receiving wool from producers, we caught up with Aled Evans, Depot Producer Services Manager (DPSM) at our Newtown depot.
Tell us a little about your background:
I’ve lived in Newtown all my life and my dad comes from a farming background. Career wise, I spent 6 years working in various roles at Morrisons in Newtown. The roles included Fresh Food Manager, Alcohol Manager and Petrol Manager.
When did you start working with British Wool?
I started with British Wool at end of March as DPSM. I thought the role looked interesting and the customer service aspect was something I have experience from my various roles with Morrisons. I look forward to developing within my role and providing wool producers with a high level of service when they arrange delivery of their wool.
What do you enjoy about your role?
I’m still finding my feet at the moment and enjoy learning more about the day to day processes. I’m joining British Wool at an exciting time, the business is coming out of a challenging 12 months due to the Covid pandemic but with the market recovering and many new initiatives ongoing to drive demand, I look forward to being a part of this within the business.
What motivates you day to day in your work?
I always want to do my best aiming to provide excellent customer service. I always want to maximise my potential and also interested in training & development - if the opportunity arose, progression within my career would be of interest.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I play pool for a local team in Newtown and have in the past, represented Wales in snooker. I’m a keen football fan and supporter of Liverpool and Wales.
