British Wool is a farmers' organisation working on behalf of around 35,000 registered wool producers. We are the only organisation in the world that collects, grades, sells and promotes fleece wool.
We run our day-to-day operations from our headquarters in Bradford, with small regional offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and country offices in Japan and China.
Each year we receive many hundreds of requests for information about wool, sheep and related subjects. We are very happy to talk about sheep all day long, so we created this section of our website to do just that!
Have a look through our pages to find lots of free to use teaching and learning material.
We aim to offer cross-subject resources which not only help to deepen general understanding of the British wool industry, but which offer pupils, teachers, organisations and families fun and engaging material.
For more information on how to get the most from this website and the material provided please visit the teacher section.
We hope to help raise the profile of wool as a natural sustainable fibre and we part fund The Campaign for Wool, which is a cross-industry initiative convened by HRH The Prince of Wales in January 2010. The Prince believes the natural, sustainable origin and highly technical structure of wool can offer fashion, interiors and the built environment many superior benefits.
